Mojo Monday

Let's Get Creative !

Happy Memorial Day! Before I begin with the sketch of the  week, I ask that you all take a moment from your day and say a thank you to all our Heroes, those that may have past and those still here today, defending our Country and keeping us safe . To whomever you pray to a moment of gratitude to these brave men and women is the least they deserve.

This week is extra creative! The sketch, designed by Tammy will make you push  that creative  envelope and will help you master the craft of laying  papers on your layouts! You can follow the  sketch to the "T" or simplify it somewhat, but  trust  me there is so  much you can learn form  using this  sketch . How  do I know? The  sample to make it  come alive  was done by me!  I  followed the sketch true to the  design and loved every creative moment of it ....  So  without  further adieu  grab your  papers and  enjoy !

"There is something to be said about creating something beautiful with your hands, when there is a storm in your mind. " Amy Harlan

Lots of white spray paint from Home Dept  ( gotta  love their scrap book section ) , resin pieces that I made, and  flying unicorn  flowers ... a perfect card to  go with a little  RAK  to someone special .

Flower Fantasy - Tutorial

Paper Blooms  Tutorial

This is what you will need :
- Daisy Punch
- 8 petal flower (you can also use a circle punch and your decorative scissors)
-Glossy Accents/fast drying glue    (glue gun too if you want for the bud portion)
-Stylus/Ball Point pen ( works the same as a stylus)

STEP ONE :
PUNCH  4  OF EACH
 STEP TWO:
USE YOUR STYLUS IN CIRCLE MOTIONS TO RAISE THE PETALS  ON THE 8  PETAL BLOOM  DO THIS FOR ALL FOUR OF THEM AND SET ASIDE

 STEP THREE :
USE YOUR STYLUS AND PRESS  IN THE  CENTER OF THE DAISY TO CAUSE THE PETALS TO RAISE .
 STEP FOUR :
USE YOUR GLUE GUN  ( BE  CAREFUL NOT TO BURN YOUR FINGERS)  OR GLOSSY ACCENTS AND  GLUE THE PETALS UP AGAINST ONE ANOTHER AS  SHOWN BELOW
STEP FIVE :
USE YOUR GLOSSY ACCENTS AND PLACE THE BUD INTO SECOND DAISY AND REPEAT THE ABOVE PROCESS

 STEP SIX :
USE GLOSSY ACCENTS ( not  a glue gun) AND PLACE ON 8  PETAL FLOWER UNTO ANOTHER
 STEP SEVEN:
PRESS THE TWO FIRMLY TOGETHER WITH YOUR STYLUS  ..( this step causes  the petals to rise and close up  more)
 STEP EIGHT :
REPEAT, USING THE  DAISY  FLOWER ( it will be hidden but it adds fullness)
 STEP NINE  :
PLACE THE TWO OTHER 8 PETAL BLOOMS  AND  FINISH OFF  WITH THE  FINAL DAISY FLOWER. SECURE THE  BUD TO THE  CENTER .  SHAPE THE  FLOWER  AND  YOU ARE  DONE !

I used four  of these  flowers in the  below  layout  ... 3  using the  punches and one using a circle with  decorative scissors ...

Lay Your Burdens Down

Life got really complicated. There was a patch in time that I wished never existed. There was  a day in April that I wish never came to be . I still have not truly thanked every single person  that helped me through it  .. Thank you's do not seem to be enough! Oh I pulled in favors galore that day in April,  and I thank God  everyday  for  putting these special people in my life. From the  bottom of my heart, I thank you all again . Some day I may be able to repay the  debts and favors that  I called in .
And one  night,  chatting with Tammy , she said to me ... " Lay your burdens down for awhile and let your mind find some peace."   I had not cried yet  over that day for someone once told me,  "Don't cry, there will be time to cry later, now you need to find strength." Well I finally cried.  I cried  till there were  no more tears left inside and  after,  the  heavens opened and  rainbows formed.

Today, is paradise on earth . Today, God has  given me more strength, smiles and moments of love and  friends that I was scared I left  behind.  Today is a blessing.

So again, thank you .. and thank you Tammy.

I've had a real garden in my scraproom this month with all the beautiful Manor House flowers I received!    On this first tag I used the sweet Sprinkles flower in lime, they are the perfect size for tags and go perfectly with the Scrapcake My Private Happiness collection that I chose.  Its a simple pocket tag, I just fussy cut the scalloped edge and attached that to a tag I cut from another paper making a pocket to hold one of the precut tags in the collection.  The smaller tag is the perfect size to hold a gift card and slip into the pocket.

I also used the Sprinkles flowers on my 2nd tag but this time I dyed them black and copper using alcohol ink so that the flowers would match my papers.  The fun thing for me about this tag is that I stamped and embossed the Chinese characters that you see and they spell my given name, Margaret.  I was named after an aunt and she traveled to China and brought back this stamp.
Thank you Manor House for sharing your beautiful blooms with the creative team at the Flying Unicorn!

Next is some tags I created with these beautiful flowers! Had tons of fun with these lovely blooms!

“Working with Manor House flowers has been a complete fun experience. These flowers are so versatile and great to ink, mist and distress. For my first tag I used a more purple color palette with some darker colors, so to add a bit of pop I used some of the beautiful sprinkles flowers in pink and a gorgeous Country Lane flower in purple, really beautiful flowers indeed! For the second tag I misted some of the wonderful Plain Jane flowers as well as a gorgeous Shimmers in snow with some gold glimmer mist, its amazing how well these lovely flowers absorb color, so amazing!”

Now an awesome RAK!! SOOO pretty!!!
